WHAT IS THE CAPACITY AT THE NORWOOD?

We can accommodate up to 500 strolling or 150 for a seated reception with a dance floor. See more information on the rate sheet for additional metrics of the space.


WHAT DATES ARE AVAILABLE?

HOW DO I BOOK A DATE FOR MY EVENT?

The total rental fee is due at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days before the event. The Norwood accepts all forms of payment. Credit cards incur a 3% processing fee.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

There is no refund on rental deposits. A cancellation forfeits your rental fee.

WHAT IS YOUR DATE CHANGE POLICY?

If you decide to move the date of the event, you must put in a written request 90 days prior to your event in order to be considered and approved. Pending availability we charge a $1,000 booking fee for a date change.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON CATERERS OR VENDORS I CAN USE?

The Norwood has preferred vendors. However, you may use the caterer ad vendors of your choice. If your caterer has never had an event at The Norwood, please have them schedule a walkthrough prior to your event.

WHEN IS THE FINAL PAYMENT DUE?

Your rental fee deposit is due upon booking. Final payment is due no later than 2 weeks prior to your event.

AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEAN-UP?

The space will be cleaned before and after your event: sweeping, mopping, and detailing the restrooms. You (your caterer and/or your planner) must remove all decor and personal items at the end of your event. The Norwood is not responsible for items left behind.

DO YOU ALLOW FOOD TRUCKS?

Yes! If you use a Food Truck for your catering needs, we suggest hiring additional staff for bussing and clearing tables.

ARE TRASH RECEPTACLES AND BAGS PROVIDED BY THE NORWOOD?

Yes.

IS THERE A DRESSING AREA ONSITE?

Yes! Our 2nd floor suite includes a separate lounge area, private bathroom, and dressing room.

IS THERE A KITCHEN?

There is no kitchen or cooking equipment onsite. Caterers may opt to bring in cooking equipment. Please check with your venue manager for any restrictions.

WHEN CAN WE GET IN TO SET UP?

Access begins at the start of your rental time. Breakdown must be completed the same day by the end of your rental time.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

The Norwood is located at 6531 Woodward Ave in Detroit, MI.

ARE OUTSIDE BEVERAGES OR CATERING ALLOWED?

The Norwood does not allow any outside beverages.

HOW ARE MINORS FACTORED INTO THE BAR AND BEVERAGE SERVICE?

Minors are charged $10 for refresh service which includes unlimited juices, soda and bottled water.


ARE ANY FURNISHINGS INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL?

The lower level is fully furnished with built in banquette seating, cocktail tables, and chairs. The main level is a blank space. For table and chair rental, please see our preferred vendors list. The upper level suite is furnished with soft seating and couches.

WHAT PARKING IS AVAILABLE TO GUESTS?

There is a paid public parking lot located in the rear of the building. Metered street parking is available along Woodward Ave, Milwaukee and W. Grand Blvd.

IS REHEARSAL TIME INCLUDED IN MY WEDDING BOOKING?

Rehearsals can be scheduled Monday - Thursday. In order to reserve the space for a rehearsal, the standard event rates would apply which is a 6-hour minimum rental plus security.

DO I NEED TO HIRE AN EVENT PLANNER OR COORDINATOR?

A manager will be on-site during your event to answer any questions, oversee the building and our bar staff, but he/she will not coordinate your event. We are happy to recommend coordinators and planners we work with regularly.

DO YOU HAVE AN OUTDOOR SPACE?

Yes! Our outdoor patio is included in your rental.

IS SMOKING ALLOWED?

Smoking is allowed outside on our patio area.

ARE CANDLES ALLOWED?

Yes.

ARE THE BUILDING AND RESTROOMS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

The first floor has an accessible restroom. There is no elevator to the lower or upper floors, only stairs.

HOW MANY BATHROOMS ARE THERE?

There are two (2) restrooms with 4 stalls each as well as 2 additional single stall restrooms.

DOES THE BUILDING HAVE HEAT AND A/C?

Yes.
